The Austin, Tx Half Marathon was over Valentines day weekend. The race took you through iconic parts of Austin, that included running by the capitol. The race was ran with the marathon runners and included a 5k that started 40 minutes after the race.

Packet Pick-up

Packet pick-up was on the Friday and Saturday before the race. The expo was large and located in the even center. We enjoyed samplings of Nuun, who were one of the sponsors of the race. Parking was a little congested arriving to the expo.

The Race

The race took you through the streets of Austin. There were several car garages that we were able to park in for free. The half marathon started at 7 AM. Due to complications with the course, the races started 45 minutes late, causing runners to wait at the start corral.

The weather was great, getting to 50 degrees. The race was surprisingly hilly, with a huge hill at mile 12.

Post Race

After the race there was lots to do. Things included entertainment, massages, and booths. We did not enjoy a lot of the events after race, but did wait in line a Voodoo donuts.
